Scope and Contents: One 1815-1842 volume containing minutes of the Norfolk Athenaeum in Norfolk, Virginia. The book also includes a typescript copy of the act passed by the General Assembly that chartered the organization, an original listing of books of the Norfolk Athenaeum (divided by books which could be circulated among the subscribers and those which should remain in the Room), and several pages from the auctioning of books when the group formally disbanded in 1842.
