Scope and Contents of the Materials

One circa 1965-1970 realtor listings notebook, business cards, and ephemera from Ernest P. Gretes of Norfolk, Virginia. The notebook includes detailed listings for individual properties with an accompanying black-and-white photograph of the property on the reverse side. The collection also includes family photographs and one 1964 yearbook The Acorn from Carolton Oaks School in Norfolk, Virginia.

Biographical Note

Ernest Peter Gretes was born on April 8, 1915 in Virginia. He was married to Demetra Semon in 1947. Gretes was owner of the Esquire Club on Sewells Point Road in the 1940s. He was later a realtor. Gretes died on December 1, 1988 in Virginia Beach, Virginia and was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
