Historical Note: James Blair Junior High School is a middle school built in 1921 in the Ghent section of Norfolk, Virginia. It is a brick building designed in the Beaux-Arts style architecture by Calrow, Wrenn, and Tazewell. James Blair Junior High School was one of the first two junior high schools built in the City of Norfolk, opening to students in September 1922. The school was renamed James Blair Middle School in the 1980s, and it remains operational as a middle school. The school was listed on the National Register of Historic Places beginning in 2000.
