Correspondence, photographs, clippings, and other materials originally belonging to Edwin Robeson MacKethan, Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia. Collection Historical Note
Edwin Robeson MacKethan, Jr. was born on January 3, 1907 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He married Virginia Lord Heard on March 23, 1935 in Savannah, Georgia. MacKethan moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 1938 and eventually became Senior Vice President of the Virginia National Bank in the Trust Department. He was also receiver of the Norfolk Savings & Loan Corporation. MacKethan died on November 15, 1989 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
Biographical Note
Edwin Robeson MacKethan, III was born on October 16, 1939 in Norfolk, Virginia. He married Elsie F. Hopton in August 1962 in Plainfield, New Jersey. He is co-editor of The Story of the Page-King Family of Retreat Plantation, St. Simons Island and of the Golden Isles of Georgia (2000). MacKethan lives in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.
