Scope and Contents of the Materials

Twenty-five financial ledgers relating to Reid and Company accounts and the accounts of various individuals and business entities from 1894-1941 in Norfolk, Virginia. Also included is a 1901-1938 journal of the Westover Company, one of Fergus Reid's other business interests.

Biographical Note

Reid and Company was a cotton export business that operated in Norfolk, Virginia from 1894 to 1941. The company was founded by Fergus Reid, a well-known Norfolk businessman and philanthrapist.
