Scope and Contents of the Materials

Circa 1960s-1970s correspondence, notes, and related materials collected by Arnold H. Lindblad on antique glass bottle collecting in Norfolk, Virginia. Much of the collection includes correspondence from organizations to Lindblad in response to requests for historic details about specific glass bottles from his personal collection. There are also handwritten notes and a notebook written by Lindblad on the history of glass bottle making and names and addresses of Norfolk businesses that produced products in glass bottles. Glass bottle correspondence collected by Lindblad's brother-in-law, E. A. Odend'hal, is also in the collection.

Biographical Note

Arnold "Tubby" Hugo Lindblad, Sr. was born on September 10, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York. He married Jeanne Louise Falconer on March 1, 1942 in Camden, North Carolina. He retired from the United States Army and Virginia State Army National Guard after 38 years of service, from 1941-1979. Lindblad also retired from the C&P Telephone Company as a phone installer. He served as president of the Old Dominion Bottle Club in Norfolk, Virginia and wrote as an expert of glass bottle collecting in the local newspaper column "Hot Line." Lindblad died on July 28, 2003 and was buried at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
